Deliverect Q1/2023 by the Numbers

2023 is moving fast, like thousands of restaurants and their hungry customers worldwide. We’re thrilled to say that Deliverect is moving as fast as the world around us. So, keep reading if you’re curious about how the first quarter of 2023 has looked for us and the food service industry worldwide.

47 million orders in Q1

We successfully processed 47,045,807 online orders worldwide during the first quarter of 2023. That means 47 million unique orders cooked to delight diners worldwide.

We’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made this year! In 2022, we processed a whopping 135 million orders, which means we’ve already completed 35% of the total orders from the previous year.

We will continue to spice up this year to surpass our own records.

To infinity and beyond! 122 trips to the moon and back 

The restaurants we work with prepare incredible dishes but delivering them requires a fleet of drivers who go to infinity and beyond.

We’ve done some estimations and found that delivery drivers have covered a distance of 94,091,614 kilometers to deliver delicious meals in just three months. 

That's like going from the moon and back 122 times.

Delivery drivers deserve a round of applause for all their outstanding work.

Day with the most orders: March 17, St Patty’s Day!

What to do on a day off? For thousands, the answer is “Take a break from cooking and order food online.” So naturally, it won’t surprise you that the day with the most orders to date was St. Patty’s Day! 

We processed a total of 648,259 orders.

Many customers prefer to order food for delivery to avoid crowds and long restaurant lines and have more time to enjoy the festivities. And, of course, to keep their stomachs full! 

After all, who doesn’t want to enjoy cold beers in an environment dressed in green, clovers, and tradition? Cheers to St. Patrick’s Day!

Each order travels an average of 2 km.

Let’s imagine it’s lunchtime, you’re hungry, and you don’t want to move. So, you order food from your favorite restaurant on a delivery app, and it arrives within minutes. Easy and convenient, but have you ever wondered how far each dish travels to get to you on average?

We discovered that each order travels an average of 2 kilometers. As a result, customers save an hour of walking time for each delivery!

Considering that it takes approximately 30 minutes to walk 2 kilometers, walking back and forth would take an hour. Customers can use that extra time for other activities or enjoy food without feeling rushed.

Time with the highest number of orders: 8:02 pm

After a hard day of work, study, or household chores, the long-awaited night arrives. According to our data, most people choose to treat themselves and order food delivery.

When did restaurants and dark kitchens get the most orders? 

At 8:02 p.m., it's prime time to satisfy your hunger without leaving the house.

The crown for the city with the most orders still belongs to London.

Once again, London is crowned as the undisputed champion for food delivery. Whether it’s because of its hectic pace of life, its large population, or its unpredictable weather, the truth is that London maintains its throne in this ranking.

Everyone loves…

We love to explore new foods and try out various restaurants. But let’s face it; there’s always one type of dish that holds a particular spot in our hearts (and stomachs): burgers!

Like last year, burgers have conquered our “most beloved food” ranking. This year, customers crave cheese, so the top of most ordered foods goes to the cheeseburger.

The most beloved restaurant of Q1 worldwide?

Barbar Restaurant was a popular choice in our 2022 ranking because of its authentic Lebanese cuisine that has been pleasing customers since 1979. Barbar’s excellent service and outstanding food made them the most-ordered restaurant of the year in our 2022 recap.

But that was last year. Not a chance. 

Barbar is—also— the most beloved restaurant of Q1, 2023. They own their delivery game, and we proudly support their online growth. Congrats, Barbar Restaurant.
