We couldn’t be more excited to announce that Deliverect has raised €16.25 million in a fresh funding round, led by OMERS Ventures, with existing investors Newion, Smartfin, and the company’s founders also participating.
It’s always been our mission to connect restaurants and other food companies with their customers through online ordering, and we’re so proud of the journey Deliverect has been on since we launched our company in 2018. Receiving this funding is a huge endorsement for our solution and a reassurance that our software is helping hospitality businesses simplify their workflow and optimize their online ordering operations - and we are humbled by it and immensely grateful.
We feel blessed to have such a flexible and dedicated team that is going above and beyond to help our customers, which is a big part of Deliverect’s strength as a company. But we are also thankful to have so many amazing businesses in our customer base. It means a lot to us that you put your trust in us, especially in today's difficult circumstances. That's why we would like to stress that we will use this funding not only to improve our offering, but to invest in you.
This money will help us expand our customer support team to make sure we are always available to assist you, whenever you need it and wherever in the world you are. It will allow us to grow our developing team, enabling us to work on more integrations and features, faster. And of course it will also help us support further research and development so we can finetune and perfect our product for you, and add more features that you can use to manage and grow your delivery operation.
The funds will also enable us to grow further in the enterprise delivery marketplace, continuing our commitment for our (future) enterprise customers. We’re also looking into expanding our services to new markets, outside of Europe. After all, it’s our goal to become the global backbone of online food ordering and delivery, helping all food businesses around the globe to add online sales channels and reach their full potential!
"Receiving this funding is a huge endorsement for our solution and a reassurance that our software is helping hospitality businesses simplify their workflow and optimize their online ordering operations."
The past month has been tough for the global restaurant and hospitality industry. In order to address the impact of COVID-19, the entire Deliverect team has been on a mission to help restaurant businesses rapidly pivot to online ordering, following the closure of restaurant dine-in services enforced by local governments across the world. We also decided to waive all set-up fees for our solution and launched new monthly – instead of annual – subscription plans which can be cancelled at any time. Receiving this funding will help us extend this service as long as the industry needs.
With the proliferation of online delivery services, restaurants deserve to be able to take advantage of them all. In the current climate in particular, we help restaurant businesses get onto all these different online channels, so they can generate revenue by selling online - it’s essentially the only way to stay in business and continue to serve customers. Delivery and takeout have become the new norm, and in the post-coronavirus economy, off-premises dining may be even bigger than before.
Jambu Palaniappan, Managing Partner at OMERS Ventures, has been in the delivery industry for years. “I’ve been fortunate to be close to the food delivery industry since 2016, building and leading Uber Eats in EMEA, and have seen the speed of that evolution firsthand. I firmly believe we’re still in the early days of growth in that sector. The current crisis has only magnified that potential for growth, increasing the types of businesses that seek to deliver online and the importance of technology in that transition. Our key takeaway at OMERS was that this progression was not just about new consumer-facing delivery platforms, but also about infrastructure to make those experiences better for restaurants and foodmakers.”
"We have no doubt that this team will also be the one to help their customers thrive once we have emerged from a situation that has shaken this market to its very core. We’re honoured to be a part of this journey with them.” - Jambu Palaniappan, Managing Partner at OMERS Ventures
“When we were analysing the market, the key question we asked was who is building the critical infrastructure for that evolution? Who is building the picks and shovels of that digital delivery revolution? To that end, I’m so excited to announce that OMERS Ventures is leading a €16.25 million financing round in Belgium-based Deliverect.”
“The Deliverect team’s mission from the start has been to equip restaurants to take advantage of a shift to a more digital landscape. So while the short term focus is on contributing to customer survival, we have no doubt that this team will also be the one to help their customers thrive once we have emerged from a situation that has shaken this market to its very core. We’re honoured to be a part of this journey with them.”
